Abstract: The explosive growth of web multimedia data not only provides huge opportunities for various computer vision problems, but also bring in many technical challenges. In this lecture, I will start from introducing several interesting applications in visual search, such as image ads, visual recognition and augmented reality. After that, I will introduce the fundamental technologies and challenges in this area, including low level image feature, large scale indexing, robust matching and the semantic gap challenges. Finally, I will present a set of great successes in recent years in computer vision and multimedia to motive the students to explore this charming area in their future study.
